Welcome to Falcon, home of some of the UK's most famous bicycle brands.
Claud Butler, Falcon, Shogun, and Optima, please take a few minutes and take a look at our history, which goes back to well before the turn of the last century.
Falcon is based in Brigg in North Lincolnshire close to where F. Hopper was originally established 1880 (see our About Falcon page).

Falcon Cycles limited can thus trace its heritage back to four of the eldest established cycle manufacturers in Britain F. Hopper and Co., Elswick Cycles, Coventry Eagle Cycles and Wearwell Cycle Company.
Falcons creates all these and more, and into each go the care and craftsmanship you would expect from a company with over a century of experience and an enviable reputation for quality.

The assets of Fred Hopper and Co. and the Elswick Cycle Company were absorbed by the new Company and adequate funding was put in place.
In 1972 Falcon also decided that the Barton site was not viable long term and moved part of their production to a redundant, but modern facility in Brigg, just 10 miles south of Barton.
The logical step was taken to build on the strength of the Falcon name and so the Falcon brand emerged as the successor to the old Hopper companies, with growth continuing through the acquisition of such well-known brands as Claud Butler and more recently, Dawes.
