The settlers of Falls County came from the slaveholding South, primarily Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama.
Falls County continued to feel the effects of the depression and had a slow recovery from 1950 to 1982.
In 1982 an estimated 11,901 residents (65 percent) belonged to one of the fifty-three churches in the county, primarily Southern Baptist, Catholic, and Methodist.

The median income for a household in the county was $26,589, and the median income for a family was $32,666.

The flag of Falls County was designed in the spring of 1984 by Joydelle G. Wolfram.
On 18 February 1985 the Texas legislature adopted the design as the "official county flag for the Texas sesquicentennial," the 150th anniversary celebration of Texas Independence.
It was thereby made available to any of Texas' 254 counties which needed only insert their own name and creation date, and change the star to the appropriate color for that date.

The region in Falls County located approximately five miles southeast of the falls on the Brazos and three mile southwest of Blue Ridge was originally home to several Robertson Colony settlements including: Fish Creek settlement, Hog Island settlement and the Guffee settlement.
Reagan was a Methodist and a Democrat and married Elizabeth Stanley of Fairfield, Texas, in 1856.
A Texas Historical Marker errected in 1965 pays tribute to three young soldiers (the Harrison brothers) from the area near the falls on the Brazos that gained the rank of General in the Confederate Army.

According to information from the Handbook of Texas Online, the name is derived from "low hills in the area." There were two other Blue Ridge communities in Texas - one in Collin County and one that had been in Fort Bend County.
Residents of the area objected to the boundaries planned for the newly-formed Falls County around 1850 and thought that Blue Ridge should be the county seat.
All that they managed to accomplish was a one year delay in the organization of Falls County.

John Busby, b 1841 in Kentucky, was sent to his uncle, Milton Busby, in Freestone County, Texas where in 1861 John enlisted in the Confederate States army during the Civil War and was killed.
In the Fall of 1850, David Busby arrived in Texas with his four children, a number of slaves, a brother Milton, a sister Nancy, a sister Pauline - wife of Spotswood D. Tucker, and a brother Edward.
