Falls of Clyde made her last voyage under the British flag from London to San Francisco in 1898, arriving at the latter port on November 15.
Towed to Hawaii by the US Navy tug Moctobi, Falls of Clyde arrived to an enthusiastic reception in Honolulu in November 1963.[15] Restoration of the vessel proceeded to the point where she was opened to the public in 1968.

She was built in 1878 by Russell and Company in Port Glasgow, Scotland, and named after the Falls of Clyde, a waterfall up the River Clyde.
In 1927, the bark was sold to the General Petroleum Company, her masts were cut down, and she served as a floating fuel depot in Alaska until 1959, when sold to a private buyer, who had her towed to Seattle, Washington in expection of selling to a preservation group.
