Southeast False Creek has been identified as a potential site for an athletes' village and Mah sees lobbying by a broad-based group like a round table as the best way to secure the most funding for the betterment of the creek and its shores.
One of the contributors to pollution in False Creek-along with sewage overflows, decades-old industrial pollution in the sediment, droppings from geese and other birds, and incursions of water from the Fraser River when it's cresting-is boats dumping the contents of their toilets into the creek, since holding tanks aren't required.

 Granville Island and False Creek -- lots to do and a great place to do it!
This is a really lovely walk (from either direction) and there are parks and places to watch all the boating activity in False Creek as well as get great views of downtown.
The False Creek area, or Fairview Slopes, once too close to the industry of Granville, began to be developed as a condominium community as Granville Island was also transforming into the marketplace we see today.
There is also a water park near the False Creek Community Centre, with lots of fountains and hoses and a slide too.
