  Sabia curbă
It is very probable that, at the origin, Falx Dacica was a simple tool, used at the ingathering of the crop, and that it evolved because of the double role of the Dacian peasant, often forced to change the agricultural tools for the arms.
The FALX by itself was a frightful weapon: the curved blade similar to a bill-hook, at the end of a wooden handle was proven to be a lethal weapon in the hands of a good warrior and all the populations around the Dacian territory learned to fear it.
The ones fighting with Falx, which resembled regarding the way of using it with the Thracian romphaia, fought in small units, using the Scythians military techniques of attacking in a triangle with its angle of lead pointed forward.

Skull Base Institute - Papers - A Fully Endoscopic Supraorbital Suprafrontal Approach to Frontal and Frontoparietal ...
Parasagittal meningiomas are those that involve the sagittal sinus and the adjacent convexity dura and falx and they are classified into two general categories; the first involves only the lateral edge of the sagittal sinus and adjacent convexity dura and the second extensively involves the sinus, adjacent falx, and convexity dura [8].
CT scan demonstrated a high left homogenous frontal/frontoparietal mass along the convexity in close proximity to the falx cerebri and with a wide dural base as well as mild hyperostitic reaction of the overlying bone, consistent with a parasaggital meningioma of the middle third of the falx cerebri.
The surface of the falx as well as the origin of the tumor from the adjacent convexity dura were then electrocauterized and minor venous bleeders were electrocoagulated.

It is interesting to note that while the Romans appear to have responded to the falx by adding limb armor (and in some cases switching to mail or scale shirts that extend lower than the popular lorica segmentata), the Dacians do NOT seem to have had any special defenses against their own weapon.
