Family film - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A family film is a film genre that, like a children's film, is suitable for young children, but with the difference that a family film has been carefully written, directed, cast and acted so that it will appeal to all members of a typical family (or if not typical, at least representing the cultural ideal):
Family films generally do not contain content that would be deemed unsuitable for children.

No Place for a Woman: Introduction
When we say that a film has a "happy ending," we often mean that the male hero and his female love interest are united in marriage — or seem to be headed in that direction — before the closing credits.
In many of these films, the criminal justice system is incompetent, 1 the white-collar office is dull and dehumanizing, 2 the police force is corrupt, 3 and even the federal government is threatening and oppressive.

In 1994, The International Family Film Festival (IFFF) was founded in the Santa Clarita Valley as the first film festival dedicated exclusively to the family audience.
During the four-day event, all films are shown a minimum of two times each on theater screens and the screenplay finalists are presented at a Screenwriters Showcase where an excerpt of each script is prepared and read by professional actors.
Film distributors, agents, investors, producers, directors and film enthusiasts attend the festival to experience new and fresh film products and to be the first to see these premiering films and to meet the creators "up close and personal".

SPY KIDS 2:The Island of Lost Dreams - Family Matters
To me, what makes the movie worthwhile for me to make, and for families to spend their time sitting and watching it together, is that it’s not a movie about spies that happen to be in the same family.
The plot line of this film is typical of family films today: The salvation of the family means the salvation of the world.
The idea of this film, as with some many others of this kind, suggests that the safety and salvation of the world is directly related to the safety and salvation of the family.

 Children's (Kids) & Family-Oriented Films
Children's and family-oriented films may actually be suitable for all age groups, and cover a wide range of genre categories (comedy, adventure, fantasy, musicals, etc.).
The best-crafted children's and family films usually are those that are thoroughly enjoyable without being overly sentimental, trite and simplistic, smarmy, politically-correct, and with too much child-level humor.
Children's films are very often fantasy films, with wild and imaginative themes and plots that involve a journey, helpful and friendly creatures or supernatural beings, and settings in fantastic, far-away worlds.

Moreover, there is clearly an impetus in film noir to transgress the boundaries of this circle; for the presence of husbands on crutches or in wheelchairs (Double Indemnity, Lady from Shanghai) suggests that impotence is somehow a normal component of the married state.
In the final scene of the film, the camera reveals the full visual power of the murdered femme fatale — the detective's entire apartment is filled with her photographs in a shrine to his obsession.
In the majority of noir films, however, the femme fatale remains committed to her independence, seldom allowing herself to be converted by the hero or captured by the police.
