Family law system in England & Wales - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The family law system is in this article used to refer to the laws, procedures and rules governing family matters as well as the authorities, agencies and groups which participate in or influence the outcome of private disputes or social decisions involving family law.
Such a view of family law may be regarded as assisting the understanding of the context in which the law works and to indicate the policy areas where improvements can be made.
Family law cases are heard in both County Courts and Magistrates' Courts, both of which operate under codes of Family Procedure Rules.

Family law - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Family law is an area of the law that deals with family-related issues and domestic relations including, but not limited to:
Litigants representative of all social and economic classes are parties within the system.
Because the family courts are notoriously underfunded and see a relatively large proportion of economically dependent litigants, a common criticism levied is that the system inherently prejudices the needs of these disadvantaged parties.

Although the court does have the power to refuse contact by the local authority, it is not able to refuse a child contact with its parents where the local authority deems this to be advantageous to a child's welfare 21.
This is to allow the court to have some ability to curb the local authority's involvement with a family, while leaving the important decision of parental contact up to those who are most involved in the case.

We lost our previous home because of the debt we've incurred maintaining a relationship with the children we love, and yet all the systems treat my husband as if he is a bad Father.
The only reason he left in the first place is because his ex refused to leave, and refused to stop seeing other men, and he didn't want to make the divorce process harder for his kids by fighting custody on court.
At the same time, the systems give his ex all the help she needs to keep on having more babies, while my stepchildren do the housework, and look after the toddler.

Equal Parenting Alliance, UK Political Party   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-17)
We aim to promote a system of family justice in the UK that puts the needs and interests of children first.
It’s only in recent years that the problems with the family law system have become common public knowledge (mostly due to the vocal campaigning of Fathers 4 Justice between 2002 and 2006), so we believe the responsibility for doing next to nothing to improve the situation, rests almost entirely with this present government.
This is where we see one important role for the Equal Parenting Alliance, to make family law reform a major election issue that the big parties cannot ignore, and to ensure it is a required topic for meaningful and well thought out policies by all parties at the next general election.
