Garand famous from the Garand rifle which was a fine rifle and was US army standard up until the early parts of the Vietnam war was born in Quebec, moved down to the US NE in his early years.
Canadians are not big on celebrity (Trudeau I have very significant reservations about: Stanfield would have been a better Prime Minister, and Trudeau eviscerated his own party).
I hope that all those who were nice enough to applaud Canadians' choice of Tommy Douglas as most important Canadian will be proud to tell their Republican friends that all they want for Christmas this year, or next year, or however long it takes, is national health care.
