Fan (implement) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In automobiles, a mechanical fan, driven with a belt and pulley off the engine's crankshaft, or an electric fan switched on/off by a thermo switch is used to blow or suck air through a coolant filled radiator, to prevent the engine from overheating.
Fans are useful for moving large quantities of air, which is suited for applications such as winnowing grain or blowing a fire, cooling and ventilation purposes, and in conjunction with a heat source for heating and drying.
A fan is also a small vane or sail that is used to keep the large sail of a smock windmill always in the direction of the wind.

Mechanical engineering - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mechanical engineering is a very broad field of engineering that involves the application of physical principles for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems.
In the United States, the order of growth of the different branches of engineering, measured by the date a professional society was formed, is civil engineering (1852), mining and metallurgical engineering (1871), mechanical engineering (1880), electrical engineering (1884), and chemical engineering (1908).
Other processes might focus on the fluid itself, such as a fan to cool an electrical system, a turbine to power a submarine, or a spray gun to apply chemical coatings.

Talk:Fan (implement) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jonathan Rabbitt 01:18, 8 December 2005 (UTC) I agree, "Fan (mechanical)" and "Fan (hand operated)" or similar would be good.
The tangential fan is apparently better known as the cross flow fan, edited article to reflect this.
The mounting of the axial fan can also make a big difference in noise, a grating or similiar close to the blades will increase the noise level quite a lot.

 Mechanical Ventilation for Pig Housing
For mechanically ventilated pig barns, it is suggested that the cfm value be chosen at either 1/10" or 1/8" static pressure for design purposes when selecting fans.
This ventilation rate is generally regulated by a thermostat or temperature controller on fan or fans which operate intermittently during the year.
The fans and heaters openings, and controls need to function as a system to avoid components such as heaters, from running when larger exhaust fans operate.

 Pump and Fan Efficiency
Mechanical components - as transmission gear and bearings - generates a mechanical loss that reduces the power transferred from the motor shaft to the pump or fan impeller.
Hydraulic loss relates to the construction of the pump or fan, and is caused by the friction between the fluid and the walls, acceleration and retardation of the fluid and the change of the fluid flow direction.
The overall pump and fan efficiency is the ratio of power actually gained by the fluid - to the shaft power supplied

SPACE CITY ROCK: CD/7" Reviews (M), Issue #1
This entry into the "madness" that is Marilyn Manson still delivers as well as any devout fan would wish, but the coup de grace of Mechanical Animals is that the band manages to do that while making their sound a little more commercially palatable.
The album was released on the 15th of this month, Omega is the 15th letter of the Greek alphabet, there's a song called "New Model #15" on the album, and the album was originally supposed to have 15 tracks.
I was sort of frightened when I heard that Manson was leaning toward a more techno sound with this album, and that the products of some collaboration between Marilyn and Billy Corgan would find their way to the album (I loathe the Pumpkins "new direction," as it were).

Direct Digital Control Energy Management System
Some systems require humidity and/or exhaust fan control, as well as energy recovery (using the available heating/cooling from the exhaust air to heat/cool the outside air that is being drawn into the building by the supply fans).
At the University of Michigan (U-M), DDC is most often used to manage fan systems, controlling the supply and return fan speeds and fan discharge temperature (which may involve four or more DDC sequences for the various dampers and heating/cooling coils).
The DDC system also allows for comprehensive alarm management in the event of a mechanical system malfunction.

However, such a device is relatively expensive and suffers from the additional disadvantage that the output produced by the patient is not independent of the speed where the ergometer is provided with a fan for cooling the generator, the mechanical losses are related to the speed, i.e., a quadratic dependence.
Furthermore, this nominal value formation takes into consideration the mechanical losses of the apparatus and is not linearly dependent on the speed as occurs with the fan.
DT-OS 1,616,895), the nominal value is composed of a constant voltage produced with the help of a circuit connected to the generator and a voltage proportional to the speed of the generator which is produced by means of a tacho-machine.
