  History - Fanling Babies Home
Fanling Babies Home was started in 1936 by Miss Mildred Dibden, a missionary from England as a Hong Kong children's home for the care of abandoned and destitute babies.
Fanling Babies Home was sponsored first by the HK Evangelical Fraternity and friends in Hong Kong, England and Canada.
The estate, on Main Street in Fanling, was originally rented from an elderly Chinese landlord who had built the estate to accommodate his family and relatives.

According to reports in 1949 and 1950, between ten and fifteen thousand babies per year were abandoned in Hong Kong with 80% doomed to die.
Fanling Babies Home also provided shelter for orphans during the Japanese occupation and mainland refugee influx period.

Following investigations into intelligence gathered, officers attached to the Regional Crime Unit of New Territories North mounted an operation at 8 Wo Mun Street in Fanling on January 22, resulting in the arrest of 27 men aged between 17 and 33.
Enquiries revealed that the group, believed to have triad background, was in competition with another faction of the same triad gang over the decoration business in a nearby estate.
Among the arrested men, 26 of them were charged today and will appear in the Fanling Magistrates' Courts on February 13 while the remaining was released after enquiries.

FANLING (Hong Kong), Nov 27: A 13-year-old Taiwanese schoolboy will make golf history in this week’s Hong Kong Open when he becomes the youngest ever player to take part in a European Tour event.
Lo Shih-Kai qualified for the event, which is co-sanctioned with the Asian Tour, by winning the recent Hong Kong amateur championship thanks to a closing round of 66.
He competes in Fanling against six-times major winner Nick Faldo, who won the last tournament he played in Hong Kong in 1990 and is Lo’s senior by 33 years.
