Fantastic Four (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fantastic Four is a 2005 film based on the Marvel Comics comic Fantastic Four, directed by Tim Story, and released by 20th Century Fox.
In the end, the foursome decide to embrace their roles as superheroes and officially organize as the Fantastic Four with Reed proposing to Sue, and her accepting while Ben, with the help of Alicia, comes to terms with his condition.
The movie was criticized for weak storytelling, poor science, and paper-thin characters — especially the bland Doctor Doom, arguably one of the hallmark villains in the Marvel Comics world.

Casting hasn't begun on "The Fantastic Four," and Petrie of course is no casting director, but in addition to his hopes of grabbing Reilly, Denisof, Theron and Walker, he'd love to see Jude Law as Dr. Doom.
Fantastic's elastic ability, the Thing's rocky orange hide and the Human Torch's fiery body, budget constraints have kept a decent "Fantastic Four" movie from theaters (most fans cringe at the widely bootlegged but never officially released 1994 "Fantastic Four").

Fantastic Four - zBoneman Movie Reviews
Fantastic Four is the first bonafide high profile stinker of the summer movie season.
His take on Fantastic Four suffers from odd pacing (the first act of the picture in particular suffers from a shoddy sense of rhythm - it feels as if parts of the plot have mysteriously vanished), and awful production values (even the standard base make-up appliances on the actors' faces are over used and unconvincing).
Fantastic Four is drawing comparisons to the wonderful Pixar film The Incredibles, and while it is true that that terrific computer animated film was inspired by Marvel's source material, that movie is ultimately much better.

"Fantastic Four" is based on the Marvel Comics title that has lasted for more than 500 issues since its first appearance in 1961.
The movie gets underway when four nice people head into outer space on a science experiment funded by a nasty, brilliant businessman and come back to New York City, having survived a gnarly cosmic storm that has altered their chemical compositions and physical appearances.
The four were mid-20th-century social archetypes jammed into a sort of makeshift dysfunctional family whose bond made the comic a knowing cross between a 1950s sitcom and a science-fiction B-picture.

FANTASTIC FOUR Movie Review   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
In ‘Fantastic Four’, the superheroes do not have secret identities and become real people living in the real world, which makes them vulnerable, especially The Thing who struggles with his appearance and this is what makes ‘Fantastic Four’ slightly different to the others.
Loaded with special effects and plenty of computer generated images, ‘Fantastic Four’ is a pretty lightweight affair that is really an introduction to the origin of the characters and a their realisation of who they have become, along with a small battle with the one “evil” character - Dr Doom.
Along comes a space storm which catches them unawares and they are all stuck by the forces of the storm which somehow alters their DNA, giving each of the five a unique power or force which slowly becomes apparent after their rescue and return to earth.

Fantastic Four not only mocks its source material by making the classic mistake -- it interprets "comic book" to mean "comical" -- but it also makes a mockery of the books by completely failing to depict the super powers in a realistic manner.
And speaking of Doom, he's probably the campiest character in the movie, constantly striking odd poses with his hands that are probably supposed to emphasize what he's saying, but it never synchs up.

 Fantastic Four
Fantastic Four is a prime example in every respect of how not to make a movie: it's badly cast, poorly written, clumsily-directed, respects no internal logic, and looks extremely ugly to boot--it resembles those '80s production-line comedies (Police Academy, Hot Dog: The Movie) populated by fashion-plate superheroes instead of fashion-plate stoners.
The pacing is so mortally off that it feels like days have been slipped in there in place of minutes, and there's so little rapport among the cast that it often appears as though the actors were filmed separately and later composited in some dork's basement mainframe.
All the girls in Fantastic Four are bimbos and all the boys are morons, none of which cushions the moment where Story and company have the Human Torch cause a Burger King flame-grilled billboard to smoulder.

 Fantastic Four - Movie Review
Since their first appearance in 1961, the 'Fantastic Four', conceived by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, have long been amongst the most popular Marvel Comics heroes - but their bizarre powers, especially the limb-stretching plasticity of the quartet's leader Reed Richards (aka Mr Fantastic), have made the cartoon series resistant to live-action treatment.
A 'Fantastic Four' production on a much larger scale was already being planned, with Christopher Columbus slated to direct, but in the meantime the studio that held the rights to the comicbook story needed to rush a dummy project through to retain its option on the material.
If 1994's 'Fantastic Four' was made (and then buried) merely to enable 2005's mutation to emerge, then similarly this current version seems merely to be a perfunctory 'origins' story designed to lay the ground for a franchise of sequels.
