The movie Faramir had these qualities, but he was more of a sneaky, trusts-no one Faramir, not our friendly and kingly Faramir of the books.
So it doesn't feel like movie Faramir has reached the point in his character arc where he has grown into book Faramir, it really just seems like he's gotten sick of the whole thing, or at least gotten sick of playing the foil.
Well, Essex, I agree that Faramir is definitely a master interrogator in the books, and that that aspect of his character has been removed in the films, but I wouldn't say that's his defining characteristic.

Faramir is unique in that his is the only character to have this function--unlike Legolas, for example, who exists as an “oddity” through which Tolkien can demonstrate the attitudes of the Elves.
That Faramir came across as cruel, easily-tempted and brutish in the films only makes his redemption (when it finally happens) more rewarding for the audience.

Total cost was somewhere between $75 and $100 (not counting the sword).
Many thanks to my father for helping make the bow, my mother for doing a lot of the hand-sewing, my sister for helping with weathering, and my brother-in-law for fletching the arrows.
