Prevalence and patten of drug abuse among patients attending deaddiction centre of GGS Medical College and Hospital Faridkot in the year 1994 were analysed and compared with pattern of drug abuse among the patients attending the same centre in 1998.
In a survey done in 1986 in rural areas of Faridkot, it was found that about 1.5% population were addicts (Sachdev et al.,1986).
In another survery done in 1989 again in rural areas of Faridkot number of addicts has risen to 9% whereas the drugs used were alcohol (25%) opium (23.2%) and tobacco (8.86%).

CHANDIGARH, Oct 20: Consequent upon the dishonouring of a cheque issued by the PWD (B&R) Department, Faridkot, a fresh complaint under Sections 138, 141 and 142 of Negotiable Instruments Act was today filed in the court of UT Judicial Magistrate (Ist Class) Jasbir Singh.
In his complaint against Inder Mohan, XEN, provisional division, PWD (B&R), Faridkot, and the Chief Engineer, Punjab PWD branch, Patiala, Naresh Tayal, partner, Shanti Builders and Consultants, stated that the accused allotted him the work of construction of two storeys of Guru Gobind Singh College, Sadar Garg, Gidderbaha, and the same was undertaken by him.
The complainant, however, alleged that despite assurances of encashment, the cheque was dishonoured on August 26 with remarks "payment stopped" and the memo to this effect was received by bankers of the complainant, namely State Bank of India.

Returning Officer of Faridkot Lok Sabha constituency has directed impounding of about 41 vehicles which participated in a Shiromani Akali Dal procession in alleged violation of the election code on the day of filing of papers by its candidate Sukhbir Singh Badal.
After a thorough probe conducted by the Assistant Returning Officer it was found that at least 41 vehicles, including one dozen buses and about one dozen jeeps participated in the SAD procession on April 21.
The District Transport officers of the respective districts were also directed to impound these vehicles as they will not be allowed to be used in the election campaign.

PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: Kapura, descendant of Jaisal, founder of the principality of Jaisalmer in 1156, founded in 1643 the principality of Kot Kapura which, in 1763, split into two states: Kot Kapura which was conquered by the Sikhs of Lahore in 1807, and Faridkot, which remained with the Jaisal dynasty.
Chaudhuri Kapura Singh, born 1628, founder of Kot Kapura in 1643, married and had issue.
Rajkumari Maheep Inder Kaur ["Princess Anne"], born 19th September 1944, educated at Tara Hall, Simla (passing out in 1960), and in New Delhi, died unmarried, 26th July 2001 at Mashobra in the Faridkot complex near Shimla, cremated at Sahi Samadhan in Faridkot.
