It's not that we really hate Fark, it's just that we think the site is dumb, the people who post there are dumb, and the people who read it are dumb.
It is in our professional opinion that the most pressing problem Fark users face each day is a pop quiz on U.S. capitols.
It's like comedy reached out of the screen and choked my grandmother and I had to call the police but she didn't want to press charges and oh dear what a mess.

One minor sideshow to the pre-obits was an AP story that mentioned The Smoking Gun's images but didn't mention Fark.com, which did get credit in The New York Times, OpinionJournal.com and others.
The Fark bulletin boards were ablaze at AP's ommission, with a "fark them!" rallying cry taken up.
Fark is indeed a cheeky news aggregator, and doesn't pretend to have journalistic tendencies, though the Miami Herald's People column said the pre-obits were "discovered by the crafty journalists at Fark.com." Web crediting is indeed a tricky subject, and who can say who found these pages first?

All I can tell you is they offered to sell me their space, their rep firm told me that Drew knew about this and was cool with it (I asked because I was shocked), and that they had great success by doing it in the past.
I’d love to see Fark make a living, and I promise to click on every advertising link I see… I do this every time I visit a small media site because a) I want to see who the advertisers are, and b) it’s good for the brands.
I always suspected Fark was up to this kind of B.S. The iFilm links are always the most obviously paid for.

The great thing about fark was that you thought all these great links, and the usually funny headlines were all user-submitted, that there was a sense of community there, that the article was submitted by someone like you whose only reward was to see their "submitted links approved" number increase.
Fark has its problems and has plenty of room for improvement, but many of you have gone so far overboard with conspiracy theories and hearsay that you are laughable.
Fark and Totalfark have a large enough user base that I am sure the fallout will be minimal, as there have been no further damning revelations.

Looks like someone at Fark.com in their Total Fark section took notice of my comments back in January in an entry I called Lessons from the School of Hard Knocks as I’ve noticed quite a few hits in my refer logs from Fark to that entry this morning.
Not having a Total Fark account myself I can’t follow the link backward to see what’s prompting the traffic, but I suspect it has to do with my comments on how you have to expect a certain amount of idiots to be attracted to sites like Fark.com.
Which isn’t to say that Fark.com is a bad thing, I read it myself, just that as with anything that’s popular there’s going to be a percentage of the fans that are total morons.

I was gonna do either what eventually became Fark or a curry recipe database.
And why anybody in the world would want to see that, I haven't got any idea, but on the other hand, there are news junkies out there, and you might be one of them, who go absolutely ape over this stuff.
One of the interesting stats about Fark is that only 5 percent of the people that come and read actually even look at the comments.

Well, with Fark you get 50 links a day, but with Total Fark it is in the thousands.
Also, you get to see all the links before they hit the main page; in fact I think they use the comment responses on Total Fark to figure out if they are going to green light a link to the main page.
And there are a lot of comment threads with no links attached which are just Total Farkers talking, from people asking advice and help to just chit chat about things like a movie, book, TV show, etc..

With Fark I 100% agree that the users are adding the commentary, which backs up my claim that the moderators aren't, which means it's not a blog.
I would probably have had the same reaction that Fark is not a blog a few years ago, but now I almost think that it is more blog-like in format than a lot of "blogs" out there.
I think that Fark is a community weblog because there is a community voice with community standards.

Normally, any article that mentions Fark, even in passing, gets linked to on the front page, usually within minutes of its submission ("Fark Sells Out.
As of my writing this, your article on Fark has been online for several hours, I can knowledgably state that the article has been submitted to Fark more than once, and Fark has not added it.
