Such was the reputation of fraternities in general in the youthful minds of the "founding fathers," some of whom, I know not whether all, had already had invitations to join well established greek letter fraternities in their university community.
FarmHouse was the nucleus where many of the activities in the College were first planned and discussed, and thus it exerted a strong influence on the entire college.
FarmHouse as a national organization became a reality early in 1921 when the Constitution and By-Laws were approved by each of the Active Houses and they then gave up some of their individuality and became "Chapters" or the "greater" FarmHouse.

FarmHouse became a nationally recognized fraternity when in 1921, the Constitution and By-Laws were approved by the Missouri, Nebraska, and Illinois chapters- the three chapters in existence at the time.
FarmHouse has now been in existence for one hundred years, becoming an International fraternity in 1974 with the installation of the FarmHouse chapter at the University of Alberta.

The idea of FarmHouse was conceived in 1905 when three students at the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, D. Howard "Daddy" Doane, H. Rusk, and Earl Rusk, formed a club for mutual association of agriculture students.
FarmHouse became international with the establishment of its 26th chapter at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on April 20, 1974.

Some fraternity members were beaten on their backsides with a strap and also hung over a balcony in their boxers as water was poured over them.
FarmHouse Fraternity International also said it has suspended the Minnesota chapter through the 2006-07 academic year for violating the fraternity's hazing and risk management policies.
