		The obligation to engage in holy warfare is meant to persist, in the words of the Qur'an cited above, until God's religion reigns supreme.
		For example, the persecution of the Copts in Egypt, the Bahai in Iran and of the Hindus in East Pakistan (Bangladesh) were religiously motivated and inspired by verses in the Qur'an.
		The genocide of the Armenians, the invasion of Cyprus and the invasion of East Timor may still have happened if the perpetrators had not been Muslim, but I believe that Islam's ideology and lack of respect for human life played a major role.
