Her Majesty's Naval Base Clyde is the headquarters of the Royal Navy in Scotland and is best known as the home of the United Kingdom's strategic deterrent submarine force.
The patrol vessels of the Northern Ireland Squadron were based at Faslane from 1993 until the squadron was decommissioned in July 2005.
The base is the headquarters of Flag Officer Scotland, Northern England and Northern Ireland (FOSNNI), Naval Base Commander (Commodore) and Captain HMS Neptune.

Although activists have on a number of occasions swum close to the Trident submarines this is the first time that one has been reached in Faslane, a feat the MOD police claimed was impossible.
Amazingly, Roder was not noticed until she had reached the high-security berthing area within the base, swum under the floating boom which protects the immediate berth area, and reached the side of HMS Vanguard.

That today former naval officers say that that would still be extremely difficult as the required software, the fuse, the trigger, the guidance system and the missiles are made in America.
Many moons ago I was based at Faslane, we used to get a carry-out coming back from helensburgh and get pissed with the 'happy campers'.Sat around the fire drinking cans of Tartan and bottles of cheap wine with the Ladies led to some memorable hangovers.
