C&EN: COVER STORY - NUCLEAR POWER FOR THE FUTURE
These new types of reactors are often described as "evolutionary" or "revolutionary." The evolutionary systems, known as generation III and III+ systems, have designs that evolved from the generation II fleet of reactors that were built in the 1970s and 1980s and continue to operate today.
Generation I and II reactor safety systems are "active" because they rely on active electrical and mechanical control of equipment such as sensors, valves, pumps, accumulators, heat exchangers, and backup power supplies.
VHTR, helium- and lead-cooled fast reactors, and the molten salt reactor are all designed to generate electricity and also to operate at sufficiently high temperatures to produce hydrogen by thermochemical water cracking.

ANS : Public Information : News and Events : ANS sends Secretary Abraham letter supporting FFTF
As we move toward future nuclear energy supplies that are sustainable, more economic, and safer, we will require the unique and world class fast neutron test environment available only in the FFTF for development of Generation IV advanced nuclear energy systems.
Since then, and since the January decision, the growing awareness of the nation's current and future electrical energy supply weaknesses add emphasis to the need for next generation nuclear energy.
FFTF is the only U.S. research reactor that can provide this unique test environment.

As PFBR is the forerunner for the fast breeder reactors to be built in the future IGCAR is all set to generate handsome royalty revenues.
"The four areas that complicates the fast breeder reactor technology are: handling of liquid sodium (its purity and controlling any kind of ingress into sodium), controlling oxygen, steam generation and equipment handling," says R P Kapoor, associate director, reactor operations and maintenance group and the operational head for FBTR and the Kamini reactor.
With the global experience in running fast reactors available, cost-competitive studies between thermal power plants and the former were made.

 FAST BREEDER TEST REACTOR
Its main objectives are to generate experience in operation of large sodium systems, to demonstrate generation of electricity from this technology and to serve as an irradiation facility for developing fuel and structural materials for future fast reactors.
This was the first time that electricity from a fast reactor in India was fed to the grid.
Hence a cautious approach was taken to increase the reactor power in stages after assessing the fuel performance through plant observations and post irradiation examination (PIE) route.

All game content and data files are compatible across all supported platforms, for fast turnaround time between code and content development on PC, and playtesting on console or PC.
Mod support has been a major factor behind the success of many prominent PC games today, and we anticipate that support for PC-based mod development may be a significant factor in future console games as well.
Different genres of games will have widely varying expectations of player counts, scene size, and performance, so these specifications should be regarded as one data point for one project rather than hard requirements for all.

Although considerable neutronic optimization and a thermal-hydraulic analysis remain to be performed, it appears that a reactor core with this innovative geometry could meet future fast flux testing needs.
This paper presents a new concept for a fast-spectrum test reactor that is horizontal in orientation, with individual pressure tubes running the entire length of the scattering-medium tank filled with a liquid heavy metal.
This type of reactor will be able to open new frontiers of research for Generation IV reactors, the Space Propulsion Program, and the Advanced Fuel Cycle Initiative.

Next-Generation Secure Computing Base - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
NGSCB relies on hardware technology designed by members of the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), which provides a number of security-related features, including fast random number generation, a secure cryptographic co-processor, and the ability to hold cryptographic keys in a manner that makes them extremely difficult to retrieve, even to the machine's owner.
The Next-Generation Secure Computing Base (NGSCB), formerly known as Palladium, is a software architecture designed by Microsoft which will implement the controversial trusted computing concept on future versions of the Microsoft Windows Operating System.
Microsoft's stated aim for NGSCB is to increase the security and privacy of computer users[1], but critics assert that the technology will not only fail to solve the majority of contemporary IT security problems, but also result in an increase in vendor lock-in and a resulting reduction in competition in the IT marketplace.

ANS : Public Information : News and Events : Fast Flux Test Facility - Unique Capabilities and Vital Missions
The last French fast reactor is to be shut down in a few years, the Monju reactor in Japan has an uncertain future, and one reactor in Russia may well be the only large fast reactor other than FFTF available.
In addition, FFTF's capability of producing essentially any neutron spectra desired makes it the preferred, and some cases the only, tool for materials research that can support many of the new Generation IV power reactor design concepts.
FFTF is unique among our test reactors in its size, flexibility in accommodating a wide variety of instrumented test assemblies, high neutron flux, high temperatures for testing, and accessibility for experiment control and measurement instrumentation.

1GHz StrongARM picks up .18 micron features The Register
Further details have emerged about the next generation of Intel's StrongARM technology after the firm fleshed out future details of its IXA (Internet Exchange Architecture) this morning.
But Intel seems to have temporarily dropped plans to implement StrongARM devices in set top boxes, he admitted, although the technology it developed will be used internally as a "technology vehicle" for future designs.
According to McKeown, the next generation of StrongARM technology will use superpipelined RISC technology, and have dynamic voltage characteristics which will allow it to change clock speeds more or less on the fly.

compiler by optimizing the original bytecode sequences and applying various code generation techniques, such as method inlining, loop versioning, fast type inclusion testing, and others, while keeping the original program semantics.
To reduce the compilation time, there is no independent single pass for the register allocation; that is, the register allocation runs synchronously with the code generation.
compiler to apply other loop optimizations in the future, because the array exception checking and the array of array implementation for multidimensional arrays in Java are considered two major factors preventing the application of traditional loop optimizations and thus slowing down the execution of loops.
