Blessed Eustaquio van Lieshout, ss.cc., was born as Humbert on November 3, 1890, in Aarle-Rixtel in the diocese of Hertogenbosch in the province of North Brabant of the Netherlands.
Father Eustaquio and two other Picpus father and three brothers arrived in Brazil in 1925, in response to the call of a local bishop.
Father Eustaquio was beatified on the Feast of Corpus Christi, June 15, 2006, at 4:00 P.M., in Belo Horizonte, Brazil at a liturgy conducted by Msgr.

BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil, JUNE 19, 2006 (Zenit.org).- Dutch-born Father Eustaquio Van Lieshout, beatified in Brazil, was presented as a model of contemplation as well as apostolic action and dedication to souls.
Van Lieshout was born in Aarle-Rixtel, in the Netherlands, on Nov. 3, 1890.
It was the reading of the biography of Blessed Father Damien de Veuster, the Belgium-born apostle of lepers, which led Van Lieshout to enter the same Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary.

Father Stephen Rossetti, a 15-year screening veteran, said someone who identifies with his sexual orientation is not acceptable.
Father Rossetti said that when a person is trying to hide something a screener should be more confrontational in talking to the candidate because "sometimes a person is in strong denial about his homosexual tendencies."

Father Van Lieshout was born in the Netherlands, and given the name Humberto at baptism.
He joined the Congregation fo the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, receiving the name of Eustaquio, and was ordained in 1919.
Pope Benedict XVI (bio - news) approved a decree in December 2005 recognizing a miracle attributed to the intercession of Father Van Lieshout, thus clearing the way for his beatification.

The beatification of Maria Teresa of St. Joseph (Anna Maria Tauscher van den Bosch), founder of the Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus, will be held in the Dutch town of Roermond, on May 13.
Born in 1855, the German-born founder died in the Netherlands in 1938.
For his part, Father Eustaquio Van Lieshout (1890-1943), a Dutch priest of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, who died in Brazil, will be beatified in that country, in Belo Horizonte, on June 15.
