		The ministry said the worst-hit areas this month were the Diourbel region about 150 east of Dakar and the Fatick region 200 km southeast of the capital.
		Diourbel region is home to the Muslim holy city of Touba, where more than a million pilgrims congregated for an annual festival in late March during an earlier peak in the epidemic.
		However, it resurfaced in February in Diourbel region and hit a peak on 2 April when 785 new cases of cholera were registered in a single day.

		Ngor Ndour of IUCN (The World Conservation Union) led a motorized-canoe visit to the mangrove area on Senegal's coast near the village of Marfafaco in the Fatick region, Foundioudje Department, Delta of Saloun.
		Mangrove is an excellent source of fuel wood; however due to habitat degradation and harvesting, the mangrove area is declining at an alarming rate.

	Cashew Exporting Company
		The two met while Jeff was an agroforestry volunteer in the Peace Corps stationed in the Fatick region of Senegal and while Ibrahima was employed as a regional head for Enterprise Works, an American consulting company working on a USAID funded project to promote the nascent cashew processing industry.
		Ibrahima, deeply intent on developing his country, wanted to help alleviate the poverty that exists in the rural parts of Senegal and Jeff wanted to help prevent the massive deforestation that was occurring.
		Through many long conversations, the two decided that a cashew processing company would be the best way to increase rural employment in the region and also act as a catalyst for widespread cashew tree planting.
