Benazir Bhutto - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Benazir Bhutto became the first woman to lead a Muslim country in modern times when she was elected Prime Minister of Pakistan in 1988, only to be deposed 20 months later by the President of Pakistan Ghulam Ishaq Khan using the 8th Amendment to dissolve the parliament and allowing for re-elections within 90 days.
Bhutto was sworn in as Prime Minister of a coalition government on December 2, becoming the youngest (35 years old) and first woman to head the government of a Muslim-majority state in modern times.
Bhutto is currently (as of September 2004) based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where she cares for her children and her mother, who is suffering from Alzheimer's disease and from where she travels around the world giving lectures and keeping in touch with the Party faithful.

 The Forgotten Queens of Islam
When Benazir Bhutto became prime minister of Pakistan in 1988, many claimed that it was a blasphemous assault on Islamic tradition since no Muslim state, critics alleged, had ever been governed by a woman.
But Fatima Mernissi examined fifteen centuries of Islamic history and discovered that the critics were wrong.
Recovering the stories of fifteen Islamic queens, this remarkable exploration tells how they ascended the throne, how they governed and exercised their power, and how their forgotten reigns influence the ways in which politics is practiced in Islam today.

Eric Margolis | Foreign Correspondent : The Trail Of The Pope’s Assassination Leads Right To Moscow
The “third secret of Fatima”, was deliberately kept secret in 1959 by Pope John XXIII, who refused to look at it after it.
Pope Paul VI looked at it in 1965 (during the Vatican II Council) and decided not to disclose it, although it was supposed to be made public after 1960.
The visit of the Pope to Fatima on May 13,, 2000, the subsequent revelation of the 3rd secret on June 16, 2000, the hasty pardon [by the Italian President Ciampi] and immediate extradition of Ali Agca, could be interpreted as cleverly orchestrated conclusion of the whole affair.
