Fearow - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fearow (オニドリル Onidoriru in Japanese) is a fictional character of the Pokémon franchise.
The name "Fearow" originates from the words fear, the feeling Fearow is supposed to inspire, and sparrow, a type of bird.
Fearow is instantly recognisable from its large wingspan, elongated neck and thin, long beak, all characteristics being a radical departure from its short-winged, stubby-beaked pre-evolved form, Spearow.

Pokemon Ruby Pokemon of the Day: Fearow (#22) - IGN FAQs
Fearow is a rather hulking and brutish cross between a rooster and a swan who made his name by trying to beat the ever-loving crap out of Ash in the Pokemon anime (and really, who can blame him?).
Fearow's Attack is a bit above average and he does get STAB on Drill Peck, so it's pretty much the most powerful attack he can wield aside from a few boring and not-really-effective-against-anything Normal type moves.
Fearow was scarcely updated at all for RuSa; with the exception of the aforementioned Astonish and the lamentable loss of the Sleep Talk TM, the RuSa Fearow is virtually identical to the GSC Fearow.

Spearow - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It evolves into the much stronger Fearow at the early level of 20.
Spearow first appeared in the anime after Ash confused it with the more docile Pidgey from far away and attempted to capture it with his hands and by throwing a stone, only to find himself severely pecked.
This Spearow makes a reappearance in a later episode in its evolved form, a Fearow.

Fearow and the Spearow soared high into the sky, aware that Pidgeot would almost certainly carry out her threat to chase them if they stuck around.

 Pokemon Strategy Guide - IGNguides
Unless you're just looking for a Fearow to complete your Pokedex, your best bet is not to evolve your Spearow into a Fearow until it knows Drill Peck.
Fearow is one of the fastest Flying Pokemon (it even beats out most of the legendary bird Pokemon at higher levels), so use that advantage against any unfortunate Bug or Grass Pokemon you may encounter.
On the downside, Fearow can't learn as many useful attacks as the more spectacular Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres.
