Febris - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In Roman mythology, Febris ("fever") was the goddess who protected people against fevers and malaria.
Febris had three temples in ancient Rome, of which one was located between the Palatine and Velabrum.

 Pemphigus - Definition
Galen (A.D. 131-201) assigned the name febris pemphigodes to a disease which "by expansion of heat generates pustules in the mouth which are called phlyctides by the Greeks." Hebra assumed that the disease referred to probably was "herpes labialis seu facialis, so frequently seen on the lips in fevers."
In 1637 he described an instance of "pemphigoid fever" in which the cutaneous lesions probably were blisters; but the disease did not represent pemphigus since the patient recovered after having had two attacks, both of which were of short duration.
In 1677, Seliger applied the term febris pemphygodes to an eruption that undoubtedly was bullous.

APMFormulators: Biblical HealthCare Solutions For Families » Types of Fevers
The word “Fever” comes through the Old French fevre from the Latin febris, all of which mean the same.
Indeed, more recent investigation indicates this might be the case.
The Latin febris, then, may also relate to the verb februare, “to cleanse or purify.” February is so named as the month for cleansing and purification in anticipation of the coming spring.
