Jeff Collins has a nice piece on vigilantism; or as he puts it-"People joke sometimes that in the south, 'He needed killing!' is a valid defense." It's a disturbing piece, as various cases of people taking the law into their own hands make almost too much sense.
I'm not sure if others on the left will be as generous, but there will be others who won't let the facts get in the way of a good story; Bryan Preston gives those folks a blast from his rhetorical 20-gauge.

President Bush continued his commitment to America's students and their families by submitting earlier this month a budget request for 2005 that provides $57.3 billion in discretionary funding for the U.S. Department of Education.
The budget request includes an additional $1.7 billion—the largest dollar increase of any domestic agency—representing a 3 percent increase over 2004 for education programs.
In total, student aid for higher education would increase to more than $73 billion—a $4.2 billion or 6 percent increase over 2004 levels.
