FedEx Ground case found that single route drivers at FedEx Ground were employees because FedEx Ground “purposefully created controls of an employment nature” and exercised “close to absolute actual control” over the drivers.
FedEx has “almost absolute unilateral control over contract termination to the point of it being the same as termination at will” - where drivers can be fired for any reason or no reason at all.
FedEx Ground is circulating information saying that the attorney fees FedEx has been ordered to pay for the seven years of Plaintiffs' lawyers work on this case will be taxable to the drivers.

Pittsburgh-based FedEx Ground is adding one of its 10 new planned truck hubs in Boone County as part of a $1.8 billion investment by the company over the next six years.
FedEx bought the company in 1998, but it continued to operate as RPS until 2000, when the name was changed to FedEx Ground.

I am a package handler that works at the Houston terminal and have worked at another FedEx Ground terminal that I wish not to name to try to keep my identity unknown.
FedEx Ground deals with so much volume that if a few packages get damaged then they won't lose that much.
From my personal experience, FedEx Ground is a huge corporation built upon a system that only benefits the management, not the package handlers, contractors, or more importantly the customer.
