It is frequently stated that Germany has a bicameral[?] parliament (with the Bundestag and Bundesrat being the lower and upper houses, respectively), but this is not correct in the sense the term is used with the parliaments of other countries.

In Berlin, the Council Chairman of the Evangelical Church in Germany, Manfred Kock (66), has been awarded the Order of the Federal Republic of Germany for his social engagement.
The grounds for the award were that Kock in his official position stated "clear positions on the important themes of the present time, such as asylum policies, unemployment and respect for the right of self-determination for the dying”.
The EKD Council Chairman and Präses of the Church in Rhineland explained that he had at first had reservations about accepting the Order, but he perceived the decoration as an honour for his Office and thus the whole EKD.
