Red Hat Linux will still be supported, they just branched their beta releases into a seperate project/name.
I never have understood why Linux development is so focused on the server when the desktop is where most(in numbers) users want to use it.

To be fair, the folks at the Fedora bulletin boards (all volunteer or fellow users as no formal support for Fedora is supplied by Red Hat) have been much more helpful to me and many other folks than I have seen elsewhere with other distributions.
Fedora uses the Anaconda graphical installer to install the OS on the drive.
Fedora is an open source OS, and as such you can develop your own applications for it.
