 Feedback
"Feedback" is the 18th Rush studio album, a collection of cover versions of songs the band grew up listening to, due to be released on June 29
Lava lamps, incense and cushions added to the ambience which was in stark contrast to the 14 month recording process of their previous studio album, “Vapor Trails”, and a lot less ‘Rush’ed than their first studio album which was recorded in a similar amount of time.
Ultimately the primary appeal of “Feedback” is to the fan base that has sustained Rush for the last 30 years.

The album takes in eight cover versions (the bands first ever release of covers) by bands who inspired Rush at the start of their career.
As they celebrate a 30-year career of filling arenas, selling tens of millions of albums and playing songs with which a generation of rock fans came of age, visionary rock legends Rush decided to have a little fun with the music they grew up with.
Drummer Neil Peart, in the album's liner notes, explains, "It was April of 2004, but Geddy, Alex, and I were channelling back to 1966 and 1967, when we were 13 and 14-year-old beginners.

Amazon.com: A Farewell to Kings [ORIGINAL RECORDING REISSUED] [ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED]: Music
Also, the instrumentation, and how it is treated is important: it was on *this* album where Rush started to employ more exotic instruments into their repetoire, and in drove-like fashion: tubular bells, wind chimes, bass pedal synthesizers, orchestra bells; these types of airy instruments and sounds were fairly prominent in the _Permanent Waves_-era Rush.
The album begins with the title cut which sounds like it is gonna be a folk song thanks to guitarist Alex Lifeson's classical guitar work but then BANG into a full hard rock with electric guitars, drummer Neil Peart's lyrics about politicians being hypocrites and bigots and Geddy's voice wailing away.
To me, this album, in many ways, is a bit more pivotal than their previous album, in foreshadowing what the band would be famed for in albums like 1981's _Moving Pictures_.

Feedback is the title of several rock and roll albums, the best known of which are the 1972 album by Spirit and the 2004 album by Rush.
In positive feedback, a small change in the output is increased by the feedback, leading to the output rapidly moving to its extreme positive or negative limit.
In negative feedback, the feedback tends to reduce a change in the output, acting as a stabilising force and leading to stable outputs.

 Feedback by Rush CD
An album of 1960s-era cover tunes that were inspirational to the band members early in their careers, the disc brings Rush back to basics, stripping away the synthesizers, effects-laden guitar, and percussion triggers, leaving only guitar, bass, drums, and vocals.
However, some artists seem to use albums of this type to recharge their batteries, and some do such a marvelous job making the songs their own, that they manage to make the material sound fresh even if the arrangements are not particularly unusual.
Albums of cover versions usually indicate a lack of fresh ideas unless the covers themselves are really fresh and unique.

Rush's read of "Seven and Seven Is" is much faster that Love's original, but its barely-on-the-rails tempo is welcome in lieu of the fact that these guys are all in their fifties and play like they're kids.
The ringing of Lifeson's chords that barely hold this side of overblown feedback is masterful in keeping the original spirit of the song while future-dating its sonics.
