GENETIC VARIABILITY OF FEIJOA SELLOWIANA GERMPLASM
The objective of this study was to characterize the genetic diversity of the germplasm bank accessions of 'goiabeira serrana' (Feijoa sellowiana) by using morphological and allozyme markers.
A great diversity among accessions was exhibited by the Feijoa sellowiana germplasm for all morphological traits analyzed: anthracnose resistance, fruit weight, fruit form, pericarp appearance, ratio outer/inner pericarp, and pericarp strength.
In general, no significant association was detected between morphological traits and between them and the allozymic loci, with the exemptions of the coefficient of correlation of -0.60 (P<0.0001) observed between fruit weight and the ratio outer/inner pericarp.
