  Feldherrenhalle- Munich, Germany - VirtualTourist.com
Feldherrenhalle marks the end of the impressive Ludwigstraße.
The Feldherrenhalle, actually a copy of a Florentine palace, became infamous, because it was the scene of Hitler's failed coup back in 1923.
He was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment, a ridiculous sentence and a shame for Germany's legal system whose judges were little more loyal to the young Weimar Republic than the Nazis themselves.

The Feldherrenhalle stands above Odeonsplatz and its grounds (the piece of land between Theatiner and Residenzstraße), which were once occupied by Schwabinger Tor, one of the city gates, until it was demolished in 1817.
In the 1930s and 1940s, the hall was an important memorial for the Nazis, as it was here that Hitler's attempted putsch came to an end on 9th November 1923.
The tiny alley behind the Feldherrenhalle came to be known as Drückebergergässchen or Shirker's Alley, because those who wanted to avoid having to salute would use it as a detour.

 Savitri Devi — Pilgrimage — Chapter 4
I wanted to see “the famous Feldherrenhalle, the building before which the Sixteen were shot on the 9th of November 1923; and someone had told me that I should first go to Marienplatz, and there, ask.
It was not so easy to ask that as it had been to ask where stood the Feldherrenhalle: foreign travellers who are nothing more than tourists are not generally interested in such recent history.
I was also going back to the Feldherrenhalle, — like they, but alone, and in the midst of a dull, sheepish, bourgeois world that looked (on the surface at least) as though it had forgotten them.

 Blood Flag (Third Reich, Germany)
The NSDAP Blood Flag of the Munich (Bavaria) 9 November 1923 Putsch was the company flag of the 5th Munich SturmAbteilung (Stormtroopers) Company.
The flag was confiscated by the Munich Green Police after they opened fire on the NSDAP (Nazi Party) revolutionary formation in front of the Bavarian Feldherrenhalle (Fallen Heroes' Hall).
The Blood Flag (Blutfahne) was recovered from the Munich Police in 1925, remounted on a two part fl pole with a special unique wreath flag top, the pole also contained a dedication plate listing the names of those killed in the Munich Putsch, whose blood by the way was also on the flag.
