  Leclerc, Félix
In 1941 Leclerc joined the CBC in Montreal as a scriptwriter, and several of his series were extremely popular, including 'Je me souviens,' for which Hector Gratton composed the incidental music, and 'Théâtre dans ma guitare'.
Leclerc's singular qualities had a revitalizing effect on the chanson in France and are said to have provided a catalyst for the careers of Georges Brassens, Guy Béart, Jacques Brel and others.
His career later obliged him to spend long periods of time in Europe, but he frequently appeared in Canada; of special note were his western tour in 1965 and his appearances at Montreal's Le Patriote in 1966, 1970, 1972, 1975, and 1976 and at the NAC in 1971.

Joseba Tapia - Québec, hamalau kantu independentziarako - CD / cdRoots
These 14 political and poetic songs by six great Quebec chansonniers, Felix Leclerc, Gilles Vigneault, Robert Charlebois, Claude Leveillee, Raymond Levesque and Paul Piché are given new life in Euskera by trikitixa player and vocalist Tapia.
Tapia visited Quebec a number of times with Leturia in order to play in folk festivals, but this time his aim was to select six of the best Quebecois singer-songwriters known for their compositions, playing skills and lyrics.
The irony of the ballads sung by Leclerc and Lévesque, the lyricism of Vigneault, the harmony of Léveillée, the social criticism of Charlebois ' rock music, Piché’s merging of tradition and modernity and the voice of Joseba Tapia are all combined in the wonderfully simple project which gave rise to this highly acoustic album.

Log Cabin Chronicles Peter Black's Living Language Column
The award is named for Felix Leclerc, the Quebec chansonnier who created a new genre of music, celebrating, in very poetic but refined Quebec French, the simple pleasures and sorrows of the French-Canadian experience.
So was Charlebois, except that unlike Leclerc, Charlebois was compelled to tone down the joual in his lyrics so the French (and Belgians and Swiss) could understand what the heck he was singing about.
Boucher, though, is determined to stay true to his joual, should the French come knocking in search of the next big thing from their long-abandoned colony.
