Sanchez, who turns 26 on Saturday, is intent on fulfilling one part of the Moses legend on Friday in becoming the first back-to-back winner of the event since the American — though he won the 1983 and 1987 finals when there was still a four year hiatus between them.
Sanchez, who still wears the red wrist band from the 2000 Olympics as a reminder of his first major competition, insists he is not taking the opposition lightly even though the man he considered his major opponent Stephane Diagana exited in the semifinals in what was just his fifth race of the season.

The #1 goal that every kid who gets involved in track and field is to make represent their country - albeit in the Olympics not the PanAms - but this is still an accomplishment he was very proud of so we came to support him.

After exiting a cab near the sporting complexes, we ask several people where the "atletismo" (that's Spanish for "athletics" which is European for track and field) is. Whenever we said "atletismo", we basically were greeted with an instant scream of "Felix Sanchez" but the rest of our question was seemingly ignored.
