Although initially successful Felix's work did not impress the authorities and such was his personality that when criticized he usually resorted to litigation and argument as a result of which he became extremely unpopular and eventually unemployable.
Felix was one of the Wakefield brothers who were so closely inolved in the settlement of New Zealand.

I found also that, though there were four hagiographies of Edward Gibbon Wakefield, written in the days when he was seen as a founder of empire or commonwealth, there was no dispassionate biography of a family that played such a significant and controversial role in the establishment of the larger British colonial democracies.
Edward Gibbon Wakefield's second period in Canada is included, as is Felix's life in Tasmania., The final part focuses on the development of the Canterbury settlement, Edward Gibbon's and Felix's migration to New Zealand and Edward Gibbon's part in early provincial and national government.
Because the Wakefield brothers became scattered all over the world in the classic family diaspora of empire, it made sense also to follow their careers with a degree of separation, rather than present the reader with a clutter of events connected only because they all happened in the same year.

It is a landscape that reflects overtly political contradictions, seen in pieces such as Andy Warhol's Vote McGovern poster, depicting a leering, green-faced Richard Nixon, or Robert Gober's immaculately faked newspaper stacks, or Richard Phillips's portrait of George W Bush.
Or it might echo the relationship between the individual and power: Chris Burden's photograph of himself firing a pistol at an airliner, Felix Gonzales-Torres's puzzles, Cady Noland's images of Lee Harvey Oswald and Patty Hearst.
