Landguard Fort occupies a commanding position south of Felixstowe at the end of the promontory at the combined mouth of the rivers Stour and Orwell, guarding the approach to Harwich harbours, the Shotley Peninsular and the Port of Ipswich.
The first fortifcations, built by Henry VIII (1540) took the form of two blockhouses and were constructed to meet the threat of two potential enemies, the Holy Roman Emperor and the King of France.
It was totally rebuilt in 1626-28 and played a significant part in the wars against the Dutch in 1667, who landed on the Felixstowe beaches in order to take and occupy the Fort.

As this is the “late” variant of the Felixstowe F.2A, the clear sprue only contains the two individual windscreens.
The Felixstowe’s Rolls Royce Eagle engines are very prominent so it is fitting that Roden have made these items a kit in themselves.
Including the piping, there are thirty parts involved and the finished products will look superb in their exposed position between the wings.
