The branch held its 2005 AGM at the Maltings in Ely on Saturday 19th February 2005 at 2pm.
The branch were unable to get a speaker from National Express, then preferred bidder for the Greater [East] Anglia rail franchise, at the meeting on Saturday 21st February 2004 at 2pm, in the Library in Bury St Edmunds.

The Port of Felixstowe has applied for permission under the Transport and Works Act (TWA) to improve the existing single track Felixstowe branch line between Trimley St Mary and Levington.
The TWA order would authorise the dualling of a four and a quarter mile section of the branch line, and the construction of three additional 24-wagon sidings within the existing Ipswich marshalling yard.
Subject to the necessary approvals, it is expected that the improved Felixstowe Branch Line would be fully operational by the end of 2009.

The East Suffolk Line is a railway line from Ipswich to Lowestoft in Suffolk.
The line was taken south to Ipswich and north to Great Yarmouth in 1859.
From Westerfield to Oulton Broad the line is signalled using Radio Electronic Token Block controlled from Saxmundham, and is the only line in England to use this system (the system is used elsewhere in the UK in Scotland and Wales).

A curious circumstance is, that although the decoy is within 300 to 400 yards of the Felixstowe Railway, the wildfowl appear to tack no notice of it.
Pretyman's agent, for the following most interesting account: "The decoy is in a valley surrounded by woods, and is one of a chain of ponds fed by springs forming the bed of a small stream.
The Great Eastern Railway Felixstowe branch line runs within about 300 yards of the nearest pipe, but the wood intervenes, and the fowl take no notice of the trains.

Ely Dock Junction spread to a double line, continuing southwards to Chippenham Junction on its way towards Bury St Edmunds.
The box on the old Down platform was a peaceful place to be, early shift in the eighties produced about six trains.
However the other two shifts were busier with freight trains to and from Ipswich, Felixstowe and Parkeston Quay.

Over the ten years from 1976 the lines in the centre of Charleroi were placed largely underground and called the Réseau Métro, the original plan being a double-track inner ring with branches leading off in some six directions to connect with renovated or new surface lines.
Lines in tunnel from Beaux-Arts east to Waterloo and on east via two intermediate stations to Gilly opened 28 August 1992 (BLN 698.06) and from Waterloo south via one station to Parc on 30 August 1996.
All yet to be built are a surface extension beyond Gilly to Soleilmont, a line in tunnel from Waterloo north to Jumet, an extension beyond the unopened Centenaire to Châtelet, and a short south-eastern segment of the inner ring between Parc and Sud.

 Felixstowe Branch Line
On 13th December 2005, the Port of Felixstowe submitted an Application for a Transport and Works Act Order to increase the capacity of the Felixstowe branch line through the dualling of a 41/4-mile stretch of the existing single-track line between Trimley Station and a point west of Levington Bridge.
The Government has announced that there will be a Public Inquiry into the Felixstowe branch line proposals, to be held at the Trinity Rooms, Trinity Park (formerly the Suffolk Showground), Ipswich from 13th March 2007.
In parallel with these local rail improvements, HPUK is working closely with Network Rail to fund gauge and capacity improvements to the route between Ipswich and Peterborough and the East Coast Main Line, and its diversionary routes to south Yorkshire.

I have a friend, John Roper, who was born on March 16th 1934 at World’s End in a cottage in line with the end of the runway.
The premises he occupied at 325, was a semi-detached cottage with a very long garden which ran down to the Felixstowe to Ipswich branch railway line.

At present, there is capacity for approximately one freight service and one passenger service per hour in each direction; these capacity restrictions exist mainly because the FBL is a single-track rail line.
