  North Southwark and Bermondsey Information
The seat was created in 1997 and was primarily the successor seat to the old Southwark and Bermondsey constituency which existed from 1983 until 1997.
Before that the core of the seat was the Bermondsey constituency in which incarnation a notorious by-election took place in 1983.
Since the seat's creation, the Member of Parliament has been Simon Hughes of the Liberal Democrats, who has sat for the various Bermondsey seats since a by-election in 1983, as a Liberal MP until 1988 and then as a Liberal Democrat since then.

Labour GLA members have proposed that Hounslow be split into three electoral districts, Isleworth and Heston, Feltham, and that Chiswick and parts of Brentford, Hammersmith and Fulham be aligned with a new constituency including Acton and Shepherds Bush.
However, the Tories have called for the creation of a Chiswick, Brentford and Isleworth constituency and for one Brentford ward to become part of Feltham and Heston, which would then lose a couple of its wards to become a Hayes, Hillingdon and Heathrow constituency.
According to former conservative parliamentary candidate Tim Mack, the constituency's size has to be reduced and this would result in a knock-on realignment of neighbouring constituencies.

We who represent English constituencies are also citizens of the United Kingdom, concerned with the constitution of the United Kingdom, and likewise accountable to our own constituents.
It is a constituency which breathes both the turbulence of the Industrial Revolution and the peace of East and South Wales, as old as history itself.
Parliament should take time to consider the Convention's Report so that when, at an appropriate moment, we come to debate these matters, we shall do so on the basis of considered views.

He was extremely fond of this building and is a frequent--almost daily--visitor to it still, and I believe that the fact that he is always greeted with a smile by old and new friends shows the extent of the amity that he engendered during his time in the House.
I realise that it is a convention of the House to introduce one's constituency to hon.
As a London councillor, as a Member for a London constituency and as a Londoner born and bred, I have felt an extraordinary sense of anger and frustration at the way in which London in the past 11 years has failed to achieve its potential.
