  Feni District - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Feni is a small southern district of Bangladesh, bordering (clockwise from the north) Tripura in India, Chittagong district, the Bay of Bengal, Noakhali district and Comilla district.
It is comprised of six sub-districts ("Upazilas"): Feni, Chhagalnaiya, Parshuram, Fulgazi, Daganbhuiyan and Sonagazi.
Before becoming a full-fledged district in 1984, it was part of the Noakhali district.

 Fenny - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fenny (also feni) originated in Goa, and the Goan fenny is generally considered superior, with the best brand being "Big Boss" (available both in coconut and (slightly more expensive) cashew versions).
Feni made from the cashew apple is known as Kaju feni (cashew feni).
In the traditional method of making cashew feni, the cashew apples are manually crushed in a coimbi, a rock on the hill which is carved or shaped like a basin with an outlet for the juice.

The three districts, Feni, Noakhali and Lakshmipur are located in the Southern part of Bangladesh where the river Meghna flows into the Bay of Bengal.
Feni is on the main highway between the country’s two biggest cities, Dhaka and Chittagong, and can also be reached by railway.
The Eastern parts of Feni district and the Western parts of Lakshmipur district are served by large-scale irrigation schemes.

A court in Feni yesterday handed down life imprisonment to former Awami League (AL) lawmaker and alleged godfather of the crime-prone Feni district Joynal Abedin Hazari and his accomplice Farooq Hossain Mridha in an arms case.
Md Feroz Alam, judge of the District and Sessions Judge's Court, Feni, gave the verdict yesterday in a packed courtroom.
In April 2002, Hazari was removed from the post of general secretary of the Feni district AL.

In Feni district pond size is double (75dec) the pond size in Noakhali and one and half times bigger than that in Lakshmipur.
Among the Noakhali and Feni respondents, more than 70 per cent received input from NRDP after training, but in Lakshmipur the percentage of respondents who received input was low (35 per cent).
Usually in other districts average pond size is about 20 dec. Although the ponds are bigger, the number of shareholders is also high among landless fishpond cultivators.

Responding to a requests submitted by the BDRCS Bogra District Branch (25 September) for emergency relief assistance for the families affected by a tornado that swept through Bogra on the same day, a joint assessment team (out posted in Bogra district during the relief operation) was despatched to assess the situation and make recommendations.
The medical teams, initially deployed to Noakhali and Shariatpur districts, after the joint assessment mission confirmed that there was an improvement in the medial situation in those two districts, had been shifted to the northern districts of Kurigram and Lalmonirhat where the needs for medical assistance were much greater.
Based on their findings and recommendation, it was jointly decided that the needs have changed and the situation has showed much improvement in the districts of Noakhali and Shariatpur, initially targeted under this appeal, and the districts of Kurigram, Lalmonirhat and Feni were in much greater need of assistance.

A Feni City unit leader of Awami League confided to this correspondent that some leaders of the district unit made a fervent appeal to Sheikh Hasina to reconsider the expulsion order against Zoinal Hazari from the party.
When some other leaders of Feni district proposed the name of Alauddin Nasim for the party ticket from Parashuram-Chagalnaiya constituency, the Awami League chief replied that Khaleda Zia had been in strains with an APS (assistant private secretary) of hers and that she (Sheikh Hasina) preferred not to choose the same shoe.
Mentioning that some 21 AL leaders were killed alone in Feni during the alliance regime, some leaders appealed to their party chief to choose those dedicated and tested leaders for party ticket who served the party in its bad days.

Tipu, a correspondent for the independent wire service United News of Bangladesh (UNB), was crippled in a brutal attack in the southeastern district of Feni.
On the night of January 25, Tipu was stopped along a road by a group of armed men working for Joynal Hazari, a member of parliament from Feni for the ruling Awami League.
Tipu was hospitalized with gaping wounds and multiple broken bones and fractures in his hands, arms, and legs.
