FEODOSIIA - Crimea's Communists have launched a protest against the NATO-sponsored exercises "Kozak Steppe 2000," which are currently taking place on the peninsula, RFE/RL's Ukrainian Service reported on September 12.

The MFA said that Russia has severely violated the bilateral agreement on status and conditions of the Russian Black Sea Fleet stay in the territory of Ukraine of May 28, 1997, and the law of Ukraine on state border and procedure for admission of military units of other states to the territory of Ukraine.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Russian troopers and equipment disembarked from the amphibious vessel Nikolai Filchenkov of the Russian Black Sea Fleet at Cape of Opuk, Feodosiia in the morning of March 28, without notifying the Ukrainian side.
After the Border Guard Service of Ukraine made a warning to the troopers, they left the territory of Ukraine.
