The County intended to delay any wage and insurance premium increase for employees of the Sheriff's Department and the Bridge Department until agreement on contracts for those departments was reached and fully consummated by signature of the respective parties.
The County acted to maintain a status quo position during negotiations with the Union by not unilaterally changing the wage or increasing the County's contribution for insurance for the Bridge Department.

The employer contends that the Fergus County Board of Commissioners made a priority of giving an overall three-percent wage increase to all its employees, including those employees represented by the union.
The union’s bargaining unit comprises all employees of the Fergus County Sheriff’s Department, including deputies, detention officers, cooks, janitors, communications officers, civil officers and clerical workers.

Drew was released Monday from the Fergus County jail after state officials confirmed that she had returned nearly $2,400 she was paid last year to work as a court-appointed attorney on the appeal of a woman in prison for murder.
According to court records filed by Stephens, Drew accepted a personal loan from an employee of the Yellowstone County Public Defender Office to repay the state the $2,390.16 she was paid for work on the Enright case.
Drew served for five years as Yellowstone County's chief deputy public defender before she was fired in December 2002.
