Mr Ewing, who was campaigning today with SNP President Dr Winnie Ewing, described this as a "double whammy" for the Highlands along with Labour's proposals to discourage the use of local post offices for collecting benefits which could threaten at least 10% of the post offices in Inverness East, Nairn and Lochaber.
Ewing has written to the Deputy Health Minister who has set out proposed charges of up to £3,170 a year annum plus an additional contribution of £130 for secure accommodation service which can be as low as £15 for child minding with an annual continuation of £12 or £450 for a small support service.
Local MSP Fergus Ewing is urging a consideration of what current legislation can be employed more rigorously in light of concerns about firearms in general since figures showed that the increase in firearms offences had risen by 40% in Scotland compared to the latest figures in England and Wales which showed a 35% increase.

Stuart Ewing, 76, was overcome by smoke after a chip pan fire at the family home in Miltonduff, near Elgin, on Monday afternoon.
Mr Ewing, an SNP activist, was an adviser to his wife, who represents Highlands and Islands, and encouraged her to stand in the Hamilton by-election in 1967, when she became the party's first Member of Parliament.
