It is the administrative capital of Prizreni District, which has an estimated population of about 178,000 and is located on the slopes of the Šar mountain in the south-western part of the country, close to the Albanian border.

Hajno, The Albanian-Greek Technical Commission will convene in Ioannina, Greece, on Monday to discuss several projects of the cross-border region, sources close to the Sarande district Council reported on Sunday.
Besides government representatives attending the meeting will be officials from Vlore and Gjirokaster as well as representatives of the Sarande and Permet district councils, the sources said.
According to the chairman of this council, Thoma Papagjika, "the aim of the Ioannina meeting will be to discuss implementation of the cross-border projects for building the Qafe Bote-Sarande road and the construction of Tri Urat on the border area of Perment".
