Fernandinos are mature, peace loving, conservative and discerning.
In the case of Dr. Rey Aquino, all he needs to do is let the Fernandinos judge his performance for nine years.
While the law is lenient in the issue of residence and domicile, the Fernandinos are quite sensitive in this matter.

The Fernandinos, instead of being typical of Franciscan missionaries elsewhere in New Spain, were, in this respect at least, exceptional.
It is worth noting that the great majority of the Fernandinos were peninsular Spaniards, whereas in the College of Zacatecas, the friars who first went to Nuevo Santander, a high percentage were from within New Spain.
In extenuation of the cautious and mistrustful attitude of the Fernandinos, it must be admitted that the friars were not the only ones who complained about the misconduct of the gente de razón.

DESPITE tremendous odds in the tightly fought mayoralty contest in the City of San Fernando, the city residents elected Congressman Oca Rodriguez.
The answer is because the Fernandinos see him as the most logical successor to Mayor Dr. Rey B. Aquino.
In the conscious minds of most Fernandinos, Oca Rodriguez is the right person who can sustain and continue the programs of Mayor Aquino that has catapulted the city to its present exalted standing.

 Introduction
Fernandinos, descendents of pidgin English‑speaking freed slaves from Sierra Leone and Liberia, who arrived in Fernando Poo in the 19th century, as well as a handful of natives of Sno Tomé and Principe, Cape Verde and other African nations.
A principal difference between life in Spanish Guinea and in Spanish America is that in the African territories, there never occurred the massive linguistic and ethnic fragmentation that resulted from the Atlantic slave trade, which placed in daily contact Africans who spoke a myriad different native languages and who shared no common language.
By far the largest number of PE speakers arrived in Fernando Poo as contract laborers on the cacao plantations.

Knowledge of the Spanish language was a necessity for those who wished to succeed in the colonial environment, and those who did not leave for British West Africa became bilingual of necessity.
While the Fernandinos and the Bubi became nearly as staunch supporters of the Spanish regime as the corporate interests who most benefitted from it, African nationalism and independence movements were attracting support in the mainland section of Spanish Guinea.
