Ferrari 275 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Ferrari 275 was a 2-seat front-engined Gran Turismo automobile produced between 1964 and 1968.
The 275 introduced Ferrari's "transaxle" concept, where the transmission and rear axle are integrated.
The 275 GTS was replaced by the 330 GTS with the switch to the four-cam engine, leaving no 3.3 L convertible in the range until the creation of the 275 GTS/4 NART.

Ferrari's first bid was the mid-engined 250 LM, but due to the limited numbers built the FIA refused to homologate it for GT-racing.
When Ferrari launched a replacement for the 250 GT, the 275 GTB, it was only logical that the new GT racer would be derived from this model.
Today the 275 GTB/C is one of the lesser known Ferraris, often outshadowed by the other great grand tourers of the 1960s; the 250 GT SWB and 250 GTO.

 Ferrari 275 GTB Competizione Speciale - Supercars.net
However, after the rear engine 250 LM was denied homologation, Ferrari had to modify the recently released 275 GTB into a more purposeful racecar, thus bridging the diverging requirements of road and race into one dual-purpose sports car.
Powering the Speciale is a modified version of the 275 engine which is almost a six carb version of the 250 LM unit.
As a completed car, Ferrari had produced a 275 that was too reminiscent of the 250 GTO project.

Ferrari 275 GTB - Classic Driver - MAGAZINE - features
The last ‘pre-Fiat’ Ferrari, and the subject of rampant price inflation in recent years as its desirability amongst collectors has soared, the 275GTB is firmly up there with ‘the greats’.
The 275GTB series was born out of lessons learnt on the track with the relatively simple 250 GT-series cars, yet featured advanced technology such as Pininfarina’s aerodynamic, penetrative body styling with rear spoiler first seen on the GTO, a 3.3 litre version of Colombo’s famous over-square V12, and a rear-mounted 5-speed transaxle with independent suspension.
Steering was still by worm and peg however, and the factory’s early decision to use 14" wheels limited the size of the brake discs; thus rendering the ‘stopping’ of the 150mph+ car never quite matching its powers of ‘going’...
