Ferrari - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ferrari prepared and successfully raced various drivers in Alfa Romeo cars until 1938, when he was officially hired by Alfa as head of their racing department.
Ferrari did in fact produce one racecar, the Tipo 815, in the non-competition period; it was thus the first actual Ferrari car, but due to World War II it saw little competition.
Ferrari left the horse fl as it had been on Baracca's plane; however, he added a canary yellow background because it was the symbolic color of his birthplace, Modena.

 Co-Brand: Driving Today
Ferrari, though, was never much concerned about packaging efficiency, while width and complexity weren't looked at as the drawbacks they might have been had the car been intended for mass production.
The term evolution was a familiar one at Ferrari, so it is not surprising that the 365 GTB/4 BB (the "BB" referring to Berlinetta Boxer) borrowed some of its structure from the Dino.
As with most Ferraris, its frame was constructed of welded steel tubing, while its bodywork was a mish-mash of fiberglass, steel and aluminum.

Ferrari North America - Berlinetta Boxer | Introduction   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-19)
Enhancing North American interest was Ferrari's uncompromising view of the relationship between US and Canadian government regulations and the purity of his sports cars: the former would not dictate the latter.
In 1976 the 512 BB was released with a 4.9 liter Flat-12 making 340bhp, a slight reduction in power which was more than offset by a 10% increase in torque.
The Boxer offered much to lure the cognoscenti: a mid-rear, Flat-12 engine based on contemporary F1 technology, a luxurious and amazingly spacious interior, a ride of sublime comfort, and one of the sexiest bodies over to clothe four wheels.

Great emphasis was placed on passenger comfort, the cabin and door openings were as large as practically possible, and a large 'greenhouse' offers excellent outward vision and light, particularly given the buttresses extending over the rear wheels to enclose the deck.
When the 512 BB gained NACA ducts to cool the rear brakes, they were almost invisible and pleasingly sporting.
The Boxer of 1984 is readily identifiable as a slight evolution of the car it was in 1973.
