The FestNoz (translation: Festival of the Night) is a Breton traditional festival, similar to a céilí.
There is traditional music, dancing and drinking, particularly of chouchen, a traditional drink made from fermenting honey in water.
Although the traditional dances of the FestNoz are very old, dating back to the Middle Ages, the tradition of FestNoz is more recent, being invented in the 1950s.
A festnoz is quite simply a Night Festival which means, me dear readers, that they dance all night long.
They must have been a great festnoz group, but sadly are no longer with us as one Breton Web site noted in 1999: 'This evening, the village hall of Cléguérec accommodates three formations of high fame: Skeduz, Storvan and Pevar Den.

An Avel, a group of 27 young musicians and dancers from Brittany, tour the Highlands from 9 to 15 August to share their culture through a series of FestNoz.
The visit came about through a contact made by the Kiltearn Fèis Rois Fiddlers at the Festival of Comouaille in Quimper, Brittany in 2002.
