  Fiat
Fiat’s first sports-car was the Balilla, a car derived from the small saloon design of the same name.
Fiat then switched to the use of a basic under-pan, the resultant 1100’s, 1200’s and 1500’s all featuring coil sprung suspension and rigid rear axles.
The Fiat 600 series was part of the postwar Italian 'Economic Miracle' and was produced in relatively large numbers from its debut at the Geneva Motorshow of 1955.

 .:: Italian Cars - Fiat Dino ::.
This engine was developed parallel to the one fitted in Fiat's new luxury sedan, the 130, a 2.9 litre V6 introduced that same year yet remarkably different in design.
The 2.4 litre spider is hard to identify, most notable are the revised grill (fl with 2 horizontal chrome bars instead of the original metallic grid-type grill) and the "Dino 2400" badges on the rear next to the license plate holder.
With the 2.4 litre model the Ferrari transmission was replaced by a more robust 5-speed ZF transmission, now with regular sump lubrication, but it retained the original Ferrari shifting pattern (1st gear bottom left, higher gears in H-pattern with 4th and 5th opposite to each other).

Amajestic blend of severity and grace, boldness and subtlety, sharp angles joined by soft curves, the Fiat 130 Coup was a true catwalk beauty, a masterclass Pininfarina classic that was widely copied in the Seventies but never equalled.
When Sergio Pininfarina revealed the 130 Coup at Turin in 1971, it must have been with relief, for this was the stylist's first showstopping design after a year or two in the doldrums.
Whatever the case, the appearance of the 130 Coup was an epiphany for Pininfarina.

Fiat had already agreed to take over the responsibility of Ferrari's Road Car production, and marketing, and the V6 engine appears to have been a collaborative project.
The Fiat Dino Coupe and Spider models got the chain-driven DOHC engines, and these were enough to homologate the engine for competition, and Ferrari's purposes.
In 1972, the Pininfarina 130 Coupe was released, and was sold from 1972-1977.
