The Fiat Multipla is the name given to two different automobiles manufactured by Fiat, the first from 1956 to 1965, and a more recent version from 1998 to the present.
The original Multipla and the 600 Multipla were based on the Fiat 600 drivetrain and sat 6 people in roughly the same footprint as the original Mini Cooper.
Nonetheless, the Multipla was displayed at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York during its "Different Roads - Automobiles for the Next Century" exhibition in 1999.

What a shock the Multipla is to them, and though most will remain staunch middle-of-the-roaders about the Fiat and never consider its function over its form, just as they did over the years with the original Beetle, Citroen's DS and the Mini, there will be those who will be converted.
Fiat is the first to admit the Multipla's looks were deliberately accentuated with a double-deck effect and a low waistline so that it would be an inescapable shop window for their new technology.

Fiat hasn't done much to change the interior, which still features the oddest-looking console and door-handle units imaginable.
The Fiat Group developed the JTD unit - for the Alfa Romeo 156, in the first place - as one of the first common rail turbo diesels, engineered away from the Franco-German mainstream but none the worse for that, and in its latest Multijet specification a pretty strong performer in a vehicle of considerable bulk.

Fiat 600 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Fiat 600 (or "Seicento") is a city car produced by the Italian automaker Fiat from 1955 to 1969.
Unlike the Volkswagen Beetle, the Fiat 600 is water-cooled with an ample cabin heater, and while cooling is generally adequate, for high-power modified versions a front-mounted radiator or oil cooler is absolutely necessary to complement the rear-mounted radiator.
The Fiat 850 is largely derived from the 600, but introduces a fully-synchronized transaxle, front disc brakes, and an alternator.
