Fiat 600 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Fiat 600 (or "Seicento") was a small (3.22 metre) automobile available as a coupe produced from 1955 to 1969.
Unlike the VW Beetle, the Fiat 600 is water-cooled, and while cooling is generally adequate, for high-power modified versions a front-mounted radiator or oil cooler is absolutely necessary to complement the rear-mounted radiator.
The Fiat 850 is largely derived from the 600, but introduces a fully-synchronized transaxle, front disc brakes, and an alternator.

Fiat Seicento - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Seicento was introduced in 1998 as a replacement to the Fiat Cinquecento, but didn't differ much from its predecessor, retaining the same chassis and general dimensions, with the Seicento gaining a minor 9 cm in length (total length of 3.34m).
Fiat has still not confirmed if and when the Seicento will be replaced, as the new 5-door Panda fits into the niche of city cars and has caused a reduction in Seicento sales in Western Europe since its introduction.
In the Euro NCAP crash test, the Fiat Seicento received only one star and is one of the worst contenders in the history of the Euro NCAP.

Fiat Seicento – compact car expertise
Fiat believes buyers within the compact car segment are a heterogeneous group: young students, pensioners, housewives, working women and professionals who use their car to commute around town.
The Seicento is a tangible response to cater for different needs and individual lifestyles, a car able to reconcile opposites and overcome constraints of income, age, mileage and situation.
The rear of the Fiat Seicento is very distinctive where the focus is concentrated on the big rear window designed to ensure maximum visibility while giving the model an understated, yet up-to-date appearance.

Nineties Fiat is a bastion of bold design, with a philosophy of flair which starts right at the bottom.
In the mid-Seventies, my mother's jelly-mould Fiat 600 (navy blue with plastic seats in a ghastly shade of tan) successfully transported five teenage passengers and a boisterous boxer dog on tolerable 170-mile round trips to a leisure park near Morecambe.
The design nous which brought Fiat acclaim for the Coupe, the Barchetta, the Punto and for just about everything else it sells, is alive and well in the Seicento.

Fiat Seicento Hydrogen at 1st Monte Carlo rally for fuel cell/hybrid cars
Presented in 2003, the Fiat Seicento HYDROGEN prototype uses hydrogen fuel to feed a PEM stack (weight 150 kg) capable of producing 200 V electrical energy, with a maximum power output of 40 kW.
Furthermore, the Fiat Seicento HYDROGEN incorporates innovative solutions such as the special dynamic compressor developed by the Fiat Research Centre, which delivers a very high dynamic output, low noise and high efficiency; it doesn't produce any polluting emissions nor does it generate carbon dioxide (CO2).
Fiat Auto, however, is investing in this technology and, working as part of an international team, is developing and evaluating the various technical solutions and problems associated with motor vehicle applications.

 Fiat Seicento S
The Seicento’s forte is as an econo runabout for single people doing the city and commuting grind.
Since the Seicento is powered by Fiat’s 1,1-litre FIRE engine (as found in similar configuration in the Fiat Uno, the cheapest car available in SA today, nearly R10 000 less than the Seicento) one hardly expects jaw-dropping performance.
The Seicento is bliss as a suburban runabout, to get in and out of tight mall parking lots, doing the school run and as commuter for singles.

 Fiat Seicento -
The Seicento is available in three versions: 899 cc (29 kW/40 PS), 1108 cc (40 kW/54 PS) and also with an electric engine (30 kW/41 PS).
The Seicento was introduced in 1998 as a replacement to the Fiat Cinquecento, but didn't differ much from its predecessor, retaining the same chassis and general dimensions, with the Seicento gaining a minor 9 cm in length (total length of 3.34m).
The Seicento is available in two engines, the old 900 cc OHV, which is no longer sold in Western Europe because of emissions regulations, and the 1.1 L FIRE.

The new Panda is not only not a direct successor to the old one, but it would have been named "Gingo" if Renault didn’t slam it for pronouncing too close to Twingo.
It seems that since the 4-line logo was replaced by the circular badge, Fiat’s fortune as well as creativity has been falling.
Our first choice is still Daihatsu Mira, as it is a little faster, a little more spacious, a little better built and a little prettier than the Panda, if not as refined.

Fiat Seicento | Car Crash Test | Auto Express
The Seicento did badly in both front and side impact tests.
In the side impact test the abdomen was at a high risk of life threatening injuries and because of this the last star is struck through.
Fiat does not fit a steering wheel airbag as standard on the Seicento, and the steering wheel could cause serious facial injury if struck by the driver in an accident.

 Motoring - Fiat Seicento S — Mother's Little Helper
Acceleration from standstill to 100/km/h averaged 16.78 seconds but more important in the real world were the overtaking tests, which resulted in an 80-120km/h time of 11.78sec with the motor buzzing hard in third, while the 100-140 sprint took a nerve-racking 18.75 seconds with a change from third to fourth in the middle.
Fiat claims an all-round fuel consumption of six litres/100km; we bettered the factory figures with a final tally of 5.94, including the performance testing, which is usually very extravagant in terms of fuel use.
Nevertheless, the interior of the Seicento is always cooler than outside and I was grateful for its presence — especially during the performance testing when we had to switch it off and the car got quite stuffy.

The new Seicento is also younger and more attractive, with three new body colours and innovative, two-tone cloth upholstery for the seats!
Fiat Seicento designers devoted great attention to details, such as the body coloured bumpers and, as an option, wing mirrors the same colour.
The juxtaposition of colours has pride of place, as you can tell from the new colours for the facia and the central control panel, the two-colour fabrics of the seat covers, with their orange or blue central band.

 Fiat Seicento (1998-2004) - 4Car Road Test from Channel 4 - Owner Reports.Report[0]
The only fly in the ointment was a judder in the steering which prevented me from driving over 70 mph (as if I would...) until my return to Luton, when the wheels were balanced free of charge while I waited.
Problems in that time? A minor flat-spot when cold, a glitch in the immobiliser which prevented progress for half an hour and failed to rematerialise when it got back to the dealers, and the pretty steep servicing charges.
I joined 'Clubcento', the UK owners club for Cinquecentos and Seicentos, in February, and found that there are many more people out there in love with their 'Cento, and who agree that owning a small Fiat is one of the best (and cheapest) ways to put a smile on your face.
