  Ficus Elastica, the Rubber Tree - Houseplants
The rubber tree, or Ficus elastica, is a highly popular inside plant in northern climates and grows readily out of doors in more southern ones.
This Ficus has no relation to the commercial latex production market as that plant is of the cacti family Euphorbia and though it is called Para Rubber tree, its Latin name is Hevea brasiliensis.
Ficus elastica can be used to create latex rubber, but is out done but the Hevea.
