Field Marshal (UK) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Field Marshal is the highest military rank of the United Kingdom, equivalent to a General of the Army in other countries.
Now, no Field Marshals are to be routinely appointed in peacetime, although members of the Royal Family and certain other very senior officers are still eligible to be appointed (although none has been appointed since the general suspension of the rank).
Although traditionally the British monarch is a Field Marshal, Queen Elizabeth II does not hold that rank, and the Prince of Wales has been said to have indicated an unwillingness to be the only five-star officer of the armed forces.

The British monarchs get the rank of Field Marshal without even checking the maps of battles, while Generalissimo Stalin planned battles and played a crucial role in the wars.
I was hoping someone could write an article called Marshal, and in that article, or this one, differentiate between a Marhsal and a Field Marshal, just as there are differences between General, Lieutenant General, Brigadier General, and Major General.
I saw that a great number of Field Marshal articles were added by an anon user, all of the one liners simply saying that the rank at one point existed in the country in question and that it was held by a particular person.
